Pars Today – The foreign ministers of Iran and Turkey emphasized the need for extensive cooperation between the two countries to confront Israeli aggression and halt the killing of Palestinians.

On Sunday, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, met with Hakan Fidan, Turkey’s Foreign Minister, in Tehran. Araghchi warned of Israel’s broader plans to destabilize the region and stated that it is the responsibility of regional countries to block the regime’s expansionist ambitions, particularly in Syria and Lebanon.

Araghchi also emphasized the need to combat terrorism and completely dismantle terrorist groups in order to achieve a safe and violence-free region.

The Iranian Foreign Minister highlighted economic cooperation between Iran and Turkey and announced that preparations are underway to hold the ninth session of the Supreme Council for Cooperation between the two countries in Tehran.

Araghchi, emphasizing the gap in fully utilizing the commercial and economic potential between Iran and Turkey, called for serious measures to develop bilateral relations.

Araghchi further announced Iran’s readiness to extend the gas contract and to begin technical negotiations on a preferential trade agreement. He described the opening of Iran’s consulate in the city of Van as an important step in strengthening ties between the two countries.

The Turkish Foreign Minister, meanwhile, stressed the need to halt attacks by the Israeli occupation regime on the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. He described Israel’s repeated aggressions in Gaza and other regional countries as a shared problem for all nations in the region and called for serious involvement by international organizations.
