Pars Today – The Geneva talks have entered the text-drafting stage following Iran and the United States’ agreement on a set of guiding principles for the negotiations.

According to Pars Today, citing IRIB News Agency, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi announced on Tuesday that the second round of indirect talks between Iran and the United States in Geneva was held in a “more constructive” atmosphere compared to the previous round. He said the two sides reached a general agreement on a set of guiding principles for the negotiations—an understanding that paves the way for entering the stage of reviewing the text of a potential agreement.

The Iranian foreign minister added that the talks were conducted indirectly at the Omani Embassy in Geneva. He noted that technical consultations began on Monday, and specialized meetings were also held with the participation of Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency.

Araghchi emphasized: “In this round, fully serious discussions were raised, various ideas were examined, and ultimately a general agreement was reached on some guiding principles.”

The head of Iran’s diplomatic apparatus, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, referring to the outcomes of this round of talks, said: “Good progress has been made compared to the previous meeting, and a clearer path now lies ahead for the negotiations.” Araghchi stressed that agreement on guiding principles does not mean a swift achievement of a final deal, but it has created a defined framework for continuing the negotiation process.

Negotiations enter text-review stage

The head of Iran’s diplomatic apparatus, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, announced that Tehran and Washington have decided to begin working on proposed draft texts based on the agreed principles and, after exchanging them, determine the timing of the third round of negotiations. According to Araghchi, differences still remain, and bringing positions closer will require time and further discussions. However, he noted that “a clearer picture of the path ahead has now taken shape.”

Responding to a question about drawing up a roadmap for the talks, Araghchi emphasized: “What has been achieved is not a roadmap in the full sense, but a framework has been established that shows what steps need to be taken and how the next stages will proceed.”

These remarks come as Iran has consistently stressed the necessity of the effective lifting of sanctions, securing economic benefits, and preserving its nuclear rights within the framework of international regulations. Tehran views the Geneva talks as a step toward reaching a balanced and sustainable agreement.
