According to Pars Today, Ismail Baghaei, spokesperson for Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reacted to the US Treasury Department's threat to intensify sanctions against Iran, writing on X: "It is deeply deplorable that policies whose sole philosophy and function is the deliberate infliction of pain and suffering on human beings are being proudly promoted and whitewashed."

Baghaei stated that this behavior confirms the profoundly anti-human mentality behind it, and emphasized: "The US Treasury Department's threat to intensify sanctions against Iran is a policy of 'economic terrorism' and 'state-sponsored blackmail,' which inherently constitute crimes against humanity and genocide."
