Pars Today – Iran's Foreign Minister, in a letter criticizing the one-sided and provocative draft resolution presented by the United States and Bahrain regarding the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, emphasized the responsibility of the international community not to allow aggressors to exploit the Security Council as a tool to justify their illegal actions.

According to Pars Today, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in a letter addressed to UN Secretary-General António Guterres, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Fu Cong – China's Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the UN and rotating President of the UN Security Council – as well as member states of the United Nations, stating that the current situation in the Strait of Hormuz is directly and exclusively the result of the aggressive, unjustified, and illegal war by the United States and the Zionist regime against Iran, wrote: The real purpose of the draft resolution by the United States and Bahrain is to distort the facts on the ground and justify the past and ongoing illegal actions of the United States against Iran in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz – a region located thousands of miles away from the coasts of America.

He added: The international community must not allow the Security Council to be exploited by aggressors or become a tool for legitimizing their illegal actions.

Araghchi emphasized: It is essential to exercise the utmost vigilance to prevent any attempt to distort the established rules and principles of international law in a way that could justify aggression or the illegal use of force.

He said: The sponsors of this draft resolution, by presenting a selective and biased narrative, are exploiting international law while overlooking the United States' own egregious violations of international law. This draft resolution also ignores repeated ceasefire violations by the United States, including the illegal naval blockade and the attacks on and seizure of Iranian ships.
