Syrian, Russian jets crushing ISIL positions near Palmyra

The Syrian and Russian jets, in a joint operation to lay the groundwork for an imminent offensive to take back the ancient city of Palmyra (Tadmur), heavily pounded the ISIL militants' positions in Homs Province's eastern regions, a military source said on Tuesday.

The Russian and Syrian fighter jets have intensified their air raids on terrorists' strongholds in nearby areas around the city of Palmyra, inflicting growing loss and damage on the terrorists and paving the way further for ground troops to be able to more swiftly cut their distance to the city.

"As the aerial operation goes on over ISIL-held areas in Homs Province around the city of Palmyra, the Syrian army forces are pushing their way further into areas under the control of terrorists, imposing heavy casualties on the terrorists in the region," military sources said on Tuesday.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Syrian artillery units in an almost unprecedented surgical operation heavily hammered ISIL terrorists' positions in the city of Palmyra (Tadmur) in Homs Province, destroying a major part of their military hardware and killing over dozens of terrorists.
