Bombings, mortar attack kill 10 in, around Iraqi capital

At least 10 people have lost their lives and more than four dozen others sustained injuries in a spate of bomb explosions and a terrorists’ mortar attack that struck residential neighborhoods in and around the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.
Iraqi security and medical officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said two people were killed and eight others injured on Saturday when an improvised explosive device went off close to an outdoor market in Sabaa al-Bour city, located approximately 28 kilometers (18 miles) northwest of Baghdad, Arabic-language al-Baghdadia satellite television network reported.
Separately, a bomb detonated close to a football playground in the al-Wardiyah district of southern Baghdad, leaving two civilians dead and nine others injured.
Also on Saturday, two soldiers were killed and 14 others sustained injuries when several mortar shells fired by Takfiri terrorists slammed into an army base in the town of Abu Ghraib, located some 25 kilometers (15 miles) west of Baghdad.
Moreover, a bomb attack struck Baghdad’s southwestern neighborhood of Suwaib, leaving one civilian dead and 8 others injured.
A civilian lost his life and seven others sustained injuries when a bomb blast targeted a commercial district near the Diyala Bridge in southeastern Baghdad.
Elsewhere in the al-Eskan neighborhood of western Baghdad, a bomb explosion claimed the life of a civilian and left six others injured.
Additionally, an Iraqi Justice Ministry employee was killed in Nabuk neighborhood of eastern Baghdad when an explosive device, which had been attached beneath his car, went off.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attacks. However, Iraqi officials usually blame such assaults on the Daesh Takfiri terrorists.
