Two Saudi cadets arrested over alleged rape of British woman

Two Saudi nationals have been arrested in Britain over the allegations that they sexually assaulted a British woman.

The two young men, both aged 21, were Saudi Air Force cadets receiving a training program at a base of UK’s Royal Air Force in Cosford, located in Shropshire county in the West Midlands of England.

According to UK police, both flight engineers were nabbed on Wednesday after a woman complained that she had been fallen victim to their assault in the nearby town of Telford a week earlier.

One of the cadets was nabbed on suspicion of rape while the other one was booked on suspicion of conspiracy to rape, police said, adding that both were released on bail until next month.

The RAF Cosford trains flight engineers from many countries around the globe, including Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, to prepare them to work on British planes sold to their home countries.

“We can confirm that two overseas students based at RAF Cosford have been arrested by West Mercia Police on suspicion of rape and conspiracy to commit rape,” an unnamed RAF spokeswoman was quoted by Daily Mail newspaper as saying.
