Pars Today – A deadly shooting at a Jewish Hanukkah ceremony in Sydney has once again reignited discussions about the global consequences of the Israeli regime’s crimes and the security of Jewish communities.

According to Pars Today, citing Agence France-Presse (AFP), on the evening of Sunday, December 14, 2025, a deadly armed attack occurred during the annual Jewish Hanukkah ceremony on one of Sydney’s beaches. Australian police have classified the attack as a “terrorist act.”

The report states that 16 people were killed and at least 40 others were injured, several of them in critical condition. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese described the attack as an “anti-Semitic and terrorist act.”

However, the question arises as to how much this incident is linked to Israel’s crimes and the securitization policies of the regime. The ADL (Anti-Defamation League, an American organization supporting Israel and opposing anti-Semitism) collects and publishes related statistics annually. According to their 2025 report, following October 7, 2023 (the start of Israel’s war in Gaza), anti-Jewish incidents—including threats, violence, and harassment—increased in the United States and more broadly across Western communities.

According to ADL statistics, more than 9,000 anti-Jewish incidents were recorded in 2024, representing a significant increase compared to the previous year. The report further notes that 58% of these incidents contained elements related to Israel or Zionism.

Additionally, a research article published by the Political Science Department at Fordham University in the United States indicates that searches for the phrase “kill the Jews” have sharply increased since 2023. The study also reports that the percentage of American Jews who feel less safe than the previous year has risen from 42% in 2019 to 73% in 2024.

The 2025 Jewish Outlook Report, based on a survey of Jews in 10 countries, found that 76% have observed an increase in anti-Semitism. Many non-Jews also agree that anti-Semitism has worsened since the crimes in Gaza.

An Associated Press survey in November 2023 similarly showed that 78% of Americans expressed concern that Israel’s war in Gaza has led to increased prejudice against Jews in the United States.

Overall, the findings of various reports and studies on anti-Semitism indicate that Israel’s actions and crimes—particularly during periods of war and suppression—have contributed to global polarization and a rise in extremist actions against Jews worldwide. Even projections suggest that the future situation could become even more dangerous.

One of the main reasons Israel’s policies have become linked to the security of Jews globally is that, especially in recent years, the regime has deliberately tied Judaism to its political–military project. Israeli officials have repeatedly stated that Israel is the “representative of all Jews worldwide.” In practice, this claim has turned Jews living in Europe, Australia, or the United States—without their consent—into symbols of a regime accused of war and crimes.

When the Israeli regime commits mass killings, genocide, and crimes in Gaza, and when it is repeatedly portrayed as an aggressor against countries in the region, global anger intensifies. This anger, rather than being directed solely at Israel, is channeled in many societies against Jews, whom Israel claims to represent.

Jews around the world are left with no choice but to formally and openly dissociate themselves from the Israeli regime and to clear themselves of responsibility for its crimes.
