Signing of two agricultural cooperation agreements between Iran and Pakistan

Pars Today – Iran's Minister of Agriculture Jahad and Pakistan's Minister of Food Security signed two memoranda of understanding for cooperation in the agricultural sector, focusing on the establishment of the first joint agricultural committee and collaboration in the fields of plant protection and phytosanitary measures.

The signing ceremony for the two agricultural cooperation documents between Iran and Pakistan was held with the presence of Gholamreza Nouri, Iran's Minister of Agriculture Jihad, and Rana Tanveer Hussain, Pakistan's Minister of Food Security.

At the ceremony, the Iranian Minister of Agriculture stated: "The signed documents are the result of a three-day visit by the Pakistani delegation to Tehran and the joint meetings between the two parties. One of these documents pertains to the establishment of the first joint agricultural committee, and the other focuses on cooperation in plant protection and phytosanitary measures." Nouri added: "Given the capacities of Iran and Pakistan in the agricultural sector and food security, the groundwork for expanding cooperation between the two countries is in place." The Iranian Minister of Agriculture predicted that the volume of trade in foodstuffs and essential goods between Iran and Pakistan, which currently stands at approximately $1.3 billion, will increase to $3 billion within the next two years. / IRIB News Agency
