Yemeni protesters reaffirm support for Palestinians
Yemenis have staged rallies in millions in different cities to reaffirm their support for Palestinians in Gaza and to slam US-British strikes on their country.
The protests in Sana'a, titled “We stand firm on our position; We are with Gaza till victory,” took place on Friday.
The demonstrators were carrying the Palestinian and Yemeni flags as well as banners denouncing Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza.
They also chanted slogans against the United States over its complicity in the Israeli crimes in Gaza and over its “militarization” of the Red Sea.
The protesters also reiterated their support for Yemen’s retaliatory attacks against Israeli positions as well as the Israeli and US ships in the Red Sea which Yemen has pledged to continue until the attacks on Gaza stop.
Addressing protesters, Qassem Laboza, a member of the Supreme Political Council, said the US strikes on Yemen won’t dissuade the country from supporting the Palestinians in Gaza, warning the US and Britain that by attacking Yemen, their ships, military bases, and interests in the region have become “legitimate targets” for the Yemeni forces.
The provinces of Sa’ada, al-Bayda, Dhamar, Hudaydah, Hajjah, and Ta’izz also saw similar pro-Palestine protests on Friday.
Israel launched the war on Gaza on October 7 after the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas waged the surprise Operation Al-Aqsa Storm against the occupying entity in response to the Israeli regime's decades-long campaign of bloodletting and devastation against Palestinians.
Since the start of the offensive, the Tel Aviv regime has killed at least 27,947 Palestinians and injured more than 67,459 others.
Thousands more are also missing and presumed dead under the rubble in Gaza, which is under “complete siege” by Israel.
