Pars Today – The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran described the course of Iran’s talks with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) as positive.
“Esmaeil Baqaei,” spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said on Monday during his weekly press briefing that “the International Atomic Energy Agency has come to understand that the method and implementation of Iran’s safeguards commitments cannot be the same as in the period before the military aggression by the United States and the Zionist regime.”
He added: “The fact that a country’s nuclear facilities—while under the Agency’s supervision—are attacked is unprecedented, and no protocol or inspection mechanism has ever existed for such circumstances.”
Baqaei emphasized that the Agency has now come to understand the necessity of hearing and taking Iran’s perspectives into account. He added that this was the focus of the three rounds of negotiations held in Vienna and Tehran. Iran’s delegation, consisting of the Director General for Peace and International Security at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, accompanied by a representative of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, participated in these talks. The latest round of negotiations took place last Friday and Saturday. While no final conclusion has been reached yet, the dialogue process has been positive.
Baqaei also spoke about the visit of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran to New York to attend the United Nations General Assembly, stating that: According to the planned schedule and as in previous years, the opportunity of the General Assembly sessions will be used to present Iran’s positions and perspectives at the international level. The Iranian president and his accompanying delegation are set to attend this session, which coincides with the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations.
The spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that, given the developments in the West Asian region—including the issue of genocide against Palestinians by the Zionists—it is expected that the primary matter on the agenda of the international community and the United Nations should be addressing these crimes and this tragedy, which has now become an international demand.
Baqaei also spoke about the Zionist regime’s weapons of mass destruction, stating: “This occupying regime is the only obstacle to establishing a WMD-free zone in West Asia; it is not a member of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), commits acts of genocide, is founded on terror and seizure, and constantly attacks other countries.”
The spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized: “The genocidal Israeli regime poses a serious and immediate threat to regional and global peace and security, and it is essential to compel this regime to comply with international instruments and be held accountable for its weapons of mass destruction.”
