  • Holding 327 seats of free-thinking in Iran's religious seminaries

Pars Today- Scientific secretary of the committee for free-thinking seats of religious seminaries of Iran said, "327 free-thinking seats have been held in religious seminaries in different cities of Iran for the past three days."

Free-thinking seat is a session in which the participants exchange views, exchanged questions and answers and debate on a specific preannounced subject with argumentation and presentation of documents. The Leader of the Islamic Revolution has emphasized many times on holding such sessions. According to Pars Today, Hojjat-ol-Islam, Mohammad Mahdi Masoumi, Scientific Secretary of the Committee for Free-Thinking Seats of religious seminaries of Iran, said, "The number of these seats has grown 63 percent in comparison with the previous Iranian year (late 2023- early 2024)."

Hojjat-ol-Islam Masoumi stated on the average daily number of the free-thinking seats held for the past three years, "In 1400 (2021-2022), averagely one seat was held in every 7 days, while in 1401 (2022-2023) this number increased to one seat in every 3 days. And this number grew to one seat in every two days in 1402 (2023-2024)."

Pointing to holding 17 free-thinking seats in the current Iranian year (started on March 20, 2024), he added, "To facilitate the holding of free-thinking seats, many efforts have been made and broad consultations have been done with the seminaries of various provinces in Iran. And, regarding the good motive among religious researchers and elite, we predict that more than 300 free-thinking seats will be held this year."
