Saudi confirms sergeant killed by Yemeni forces

Saudi Arabia says a sergeant has succumbed to injuries sustained in earlier clashes with the Yemeni army and popular committees in the southwestern region of Asir.

On Wednesday, the Saudi National Guard said the sergeant had been injured during the clashes that erupted in al-Rabou'a area in Asir.

Yemenis carry out these attacks in retaliation for Saudi strikes, launched with the aim of undermining the Houthi Ansarullah movement and bringing back to power the country’s fugitive former president, Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, a staunch ally of Riyadh.

Meanwhile, Yemeni sources said Khamis al-Meshayei, the commander of pro-Saudi mercenaries, and a number of his companions were killed by the Yemeni forces in Yemen's northern province of Jawf.

The news comes as Saudi warplanes continued to bomb several areas across the country, including the provinces of Sana’a, Lahij, Jawf, Hajjah and Sa’ada.
