Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi
The Iranian Foreign Ministry lashed out at Turkish air raid on regions near Sinjar as a flagrant violation of Iraq's national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
"Violation of the countries' national sovereignty, with any incentive and justification, is seen as a violation of recognized international laws and regulations and will pave the ground for increased instability in the region," Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi said on Wednesday.
He added that Iran supports the Iraqi government in condemning Turkey's attacks.
About 40 Kurdish fighters were killed in the Sinjar area in Iraq and about 30 of Kurdish fighters in the Qerecox area in Syria as a result of the Turkish air raid.
The General Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces announced that about 70 Kurdish fighters were killed as a result of the airstrikes in northeast of Syria and North of Iraq.
Local sources in Syria and Iraq confirmed on Tuesday that civilians' houses and positions of the Kurdish fighters (Pishmarga) have been targeted by the Turkish warplanes.
