Pars Today – The former commander-in-chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) during the eight-year Iran-Iraq War said that Iran had inflicted heavy blows on the United States during 17 days of fighting following the violation of the memorandum of understanding.

According to Pars Today, citing IRIB News, Major General Mohsen Rezaei said on Iran’s special news program on Monday night that during the 17 days of conflict after the agreements were violated, Iran pursued military and deterrent actions with greater intensity and volume, and that these measures not only continued but also increased in operational pressure and intensity.

Rezaei added that the objective was to neutralize the enemy’s plans and, in the new phase, strengthen Iran’s defensive capabilities while limiting the capabilities of the opposing side.

The former IRGC commander said Iran’s attacks were meaningful and aligned with the objectives it had pursued from the beginning, including inflicting damage on the enemy’s ground forces capabilities and logistics.

Major General Rezaei also spoke about deterrence in the maritime domain, saying: “We will not allow the corridors and routes sought by the enemy to be opened, and even in the event of the presence of warships, a reciprocal response will be carried out within the framework of defense.”

The military adviser to the Commander-in-Chief of Iran’s Armed Forces also commented on diplomacy, stating: “Diplomacy is important, but the Americans must change their behavior and implement the announced conditions so that the ground for genuine negotiations can be created.”

Rezaei said that the United States is turning to new strategies in an attempt to change the situation, adding: “From Iran’s perspective, successive defeats in previous wars have caused the Americans to place their hopes in new models, but this situation shows that the decision-making of the opposing side has been accompanied by a decline in rationality.”

He also said that despite not seeking to expand the war, the Islamic Republic of Iran is simultaneously pursuing deterrence and sending messages across various fields to prevent the enemy from creating insecurity and pushing the situation into a more dangerous cycle.
