Vice-president Maliki discusses Iraq's future with Iranian envoy

Iraqi Vice-President Nouri al-Maliki in a meeting with Iranian Ambassador to Baghdad Iraj Masjedi conferred on the future of his country after defeating the terrorist groups.

"Iraq is preparing for the parliamentary elections (May 12) at this phase," al-Maliki said during the meeting in Baghdad on Sunday.

He added that increasing service to the public, strengthening the process of Iraq's development and reconstruction and fighting unemployment are the priorities of his government.

Masjedi, for his part, reiterated Iran's support for Iraq and its preparedness to cooperate with Baghdad in different aspects.

During the meeting, the latest political and security developments in Iraq and the region, bilateral ties and the latest developments related to the upcoming parliamentary elections in Iraq were also discussed.
