Find out more about the Islamic Revolution (3)
Welcome to this week's episode of the series Find Out More About the Islamic Revolution. Today, we study the differences of Iran's Islamic Revolution with other revolutions across the globe.
One of the most significant differences of Iran's Islamic Revolution with other major revolutions in the world, is the difference in the outcomes of the revolution. Iran's Islamic Revolution did not just achieve domestic outcomes, and maintained regional and global results. The message conveyed by the Islamic Revolution was demand for freedom, negation of despotism, demand for independence, negation of foreign powers domination on Iran, and consideration of sacred religion of Islam in foundation of the political structure, that provided freedom, independence, and justice.
This message was heard by many nations, especially downtrodden nations across the globe, setting the stage for emergence of numerous movements and uprisings in regional and world countries such as Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Nigeria, Lebanon, and Bahrain. The people of Islamic countries upon consideration of Iran's Islamic Revolution as a role model, played a pivotal role in developments which generated concerns among the then rulers of countries, and global powers, given that the fresh Islamic movements challenged the current order in West Asia.
Iran's Islamic Revolution, in the contemporary history of the World of Islam, marked a turning point in the revival and return of Muslims to their Islamic identity. Iran's Islamic Revolution led to the revival of the Islamic identity, and emergence of a number of movements in the Islamic world. This is because Iran's Islamic Revolution is tied to an all-encompassing global current, which aims to motivate Islamic spirit, to awaken the Islamic Ummah, and to guide the Islamic Ummah toward the true perfection of the Islamic community.
Manifestations of such an influence are evident in the growth and development of Islamic movements, concurrent with the victory of Iran's Islamic Revolution. Victory of Islamic Revolution in Iran marked the beginning of disputes between suppressive powers and regimes with the disadvantaged and freedom-seeking nations. For this reason, Iran's Islamic Revolution has been a role model for the guidance of all freedom seekers around the world.
Upon the victory of Iran's Islamic Revolution; the Islamic awakening movement in the World of Islam entered a new phase. The emergence of the Islamic awakening movement and Islamic currents in Palestine, Lebanon, Turkey, Egypt, Bahrain, Libya, Yemen, Sudan, Pakistan, Southeast Asia, and other regions of the Islamic world are clearly indicative of the revival of Islamic identity in the World of Islam, under the influence of Iran's Islamic Revolution.
The Islamic Revolution, upon the revival of the role of Islam across the globe, especially within the World of Islam, and establishment of a government based on Islamic teachings, introduced the sacred religion of Islam as a comprehensive and global school of thought which is capable of ruling the community.
Iran's Islamic Revolution, upon the development of Islamic ideals, showed that religions, especially the sacred religion of Islam, are the most important means for the rescue of mankind from injustices.
Iran's Islamic Revolution maintained an outlook which went beyond the borders of Islamic Republic of Iran. The Islamic Revolution granted a political system to contemporary mankind, which revolved round administration of justice, spirituality, and worship of God. In contrast to French and Russian revolutions, which presented man-made ideologies to mankind; Iran's Islamic Revolution presented the divine religion of Islam, and divine ideology as the ideal and practical role model, compatible with mankind's innate nature. Iran's Islamic Revolution, as a divine, and all-encompassing movement, based on the chaste innate nature of mankind, proved the importance of power of religion in the global arena.
One of the most important achievements of Iran's Islamic Revolution in relation to foreign policy was the promotion of demand for independence, and negation of dependence on world powers.
The study of Islamic Revolution's ideas and teachings, show that global-wise, Iran's Islamic Revolution took place in reaction to the bipolar global system; and for formation of changes and developments in terms of distribution of power among countries; and given that the Islamic Revolution maintained an anti-colonial nature, it stood against the interference and infiltration of foreign powers in Iran, right from the very beginning, while naming the Pahlavi despotic regime as an illegitimate and puppet government. Iran's Islamic Revolution led to ouster of Shah's despotic regime and put an end to the interferences and domination of the US over Iran.
