Fatema is Fatema (1)
Salaam everybody, and for your information, beginning today we would be presenting to you every day glimpses from the exemplary life of the Noblest Lady of all times, Hazrat Fatema az-Zahra (SA), on the threshold of her auspicious birth anniversary that is celebrated in the Islamic Republic of Iran as Women’s Week and Mother’s Day.
Here we present you interesting series on the life and virtues of the Immaculate Daughter of Prophet Mohammad (SAWA).
Peace upon Hazrat Fatema. Peace upon the Lady who continues to be the paragon of virtue for all aspiring women. Fatema is Fatema.
This is the most expressive statement which can be used for describing the Lady who embodied all feminine virtues and could indeed be called a wonder of God’s creation, in view of her position par-excellence that makes her the Greatest Lady of all times, from the beginning till the end.
Fatema az-Zahra (SA) is the only daughter of Prophet Mohammad (SAWA). She is the daughter of a family whose sons died in infancy in a society which derided girls and considered boys as heirs that keep lineal descent alive. For this reason, being girl was considered a form of disgrace in not just the society of ignorance of the Arab, but also among the supposedly civilized nations of Iran, Rome, India, China and others. In the days, when women were treated as no more than chattel of possessions of men, God Almighty decided to bestow honour on women by granting His Greatest Prophet, a gem of a daughter through whom his name will shine brighter than any supernova, when the lineal descents of those priding on male issue, will be cast into oblivion.
So humiliating had become the situation of women in the pre-Islamic society of Arabia that some Arabs used to bury their daughters alive in fear of the shame she would bring on the family when she grows up.
The holy Qur’an informs us in Surah Nahl, ayah 58:
“When one of them is brought the news of a female [newborn], his face becomes darkened and he chokes with suppressed agony.”
This explicit statement of God Almighty is a denouncement of the ignorance of mankind and their mistreatment of women, who ought to be respected for their virtue and chastity, and should not be exploited as a commercial and carnal commodity, which women have unfortunately become in the modern day Western societies, similar to their sordid situation in pre-Islamic Arabia.
God Almighty thus revolutionized the situation of women by decreeing the death in infancy of the Prophet’s sons, and then granting him an impeccable daughter, in order to serve as the finest example of virtue for women of all times.
When the pagan Arabs mocked the Prophet, God Almighty revealed Surah al-Kowthar on the virtues of the Prophet’s daughter.
The Surah reads:
“Indeed We have given you abundance.”
“So pray to your Lord, and sacrifice [the sacrificial camel].”
“Indeed it is your enemy who is without posterity.”
Thanks for keeping us company and goodbye until we meet you again tomorrow with more glimpses from the exemplary life of Hazrat Fatema Zahra (SA), who is indeed the pride of the Mary the Mother of Prophet Jesus (peace upon them).
