Slaughter in Sinai, Egypt Ought to be Wary of Salafi Sedition
The Takfiris, or Salafis and Wahhabis, or whatever they are called are hypocrites to the very core. They claim to be Muslims, but are far removed from the peaceful and humanitarian image of Islam.
Much to the delight of the enemies of Islam, they indulged in the most violent and brutal acts against Muslims, not even respecting the sanctity of mosques and shrines, and with no inhibitions in killing even women, children and old men, including people engrossed in the worship of God Almighty. These cowardly terrorists, with the support of the Zionists and western imperialism, have tarnished the visage of Islam, as is evident in several Muslim countries, the latest incident being Friday’s blatant act of terrorism in Egypt’s Sinai, where they attacked a mosque while the weekly Friday Prayer was about to begin, massacring around two-hundred-and-fifty worshippers and injuring over a hundred-and-fifty others.
Stay with us for a Viewpoint in this regard that appeared in Iran’s English language daily Kayhan International titled “Slaughter in Sinai, Egypt Ought to be Wary of Salafi Sedition”.
Kayhan wrote: “While Syria has finally dealt the death blow to Takfri terrorism that over the past six years claimed the lives of tens of thousands of Muslim men, women, and children; and Iraq after seeing its towns and cities devastated by these cannibalistic terrorists is now hunting them to the last man in the desert areas, the cowardly advocates of the caliphate of criminals, raised their ugly head in Egypt on Friday, attacking a crowded mosque in northern Sinai and massacring in cold blood over 200 Sunni Muslim worshippers.
“The ar-Rawdhah Mosque in Bir al-Abed, west of Arish city, was covered with blood and bodies – of the dead, the dying and the wounded survivors – as those fortunate to evade the bomb blast and the indiscriminate gunfire of the masked murderers shooting from four vehicles that almost surrounded the mosque, ran helter-skelter for their dear life.”
The use of large vehicles and sophisticated arms by the terrorists, who call themselves “Wilayat as-Sinai” is firm indication of the fact that these anti-Muslim elements are receiving money from Saudi Arabia and weapons from the illegal Zionist entity, Israel, to destabilize Egypt.
According to Kayhan: “It seems, this is what Egypt has to pay for its unwarranted coziness to Saudi Arabia, whose billions of dollars in aid, is not just holding the government of General Abdul-Fattah as-Sisi in ransom, but allowing Takfiri terrorists to spread their deadly tentacles in the predominantly Sunni Muslim country.”
The English daily noting the Iranian foreign ministry’s immediate denunciation of this latest acts of terrorism in Egypt, wrote: “We in the Islamic Republic of Iran, the prime victims of terrorism (sponsored by the US and the Salafis), strongly condemn this dastardly act by the Wahhabi-Zionist agents, and join our Egyptian brethren in their hour of grief.”
It also pointed out: “Sheikh Ahmad at-Tayyeb, the head of al-Azhar, the famous Sunni Muslim seat of learning, who some two years ago had issued his famous verdict that the Wahhabis are not part of the Ahl as-Sunnah, denounced Friday’s massacre.
“He said: “Shedding blood, desecrating houses of God and terrorizing worshippers are corrupt deeds, which must be struck hard and firmly.”
“Well said honourable Sheikh”, commented Kayhan in its viewpoint, and added: “In view of your brave and bold statements in which you had earlier condemned the attacks on Christian Churches by the Salafis, there is a ray of hope for the Egyptian people to regain their independence and the culture of tolerance that had flowered during the two-and-a-half centuries of Fatemid rule, making Egypt the centre of the ideology of Prophet Muhammad’s (SAWA) Ahl al-Bayt, including the founding of al-Azhar in Cairo.”
The Iranian English daily took note of the fact: “Egypt is an important Islamic country with a rich history, and on no account should it sacrifice its independence on the altar of Wahhabism – or for that matter on the altars of Zionism and American imperialism.
It pointed out to Egypt’s recent history and how when the heretical Wahhabis of Najd had first raised their ugly head at the beginning of the 19th century by savagely attacking the Land of Revelation and desecrating the holy shrines, the then ruler of Egypt had taken personal action to end and uproot the Aal-e Saud.
Kayhan posed the question: “Wasn’t it Mohammad Ali Pasha of Egypt who two centuries ago in 1813 landed with his troops in Yanbu, near Jeddah, to chase out the Aal-e Saud clan from Hijaz, following the occupation of the holy cities of Mecca and Medina by these heretical brigands from Najd?
“Didn’t his son Ibrahim Pasha pursue the Aal-e Saud right into the desert interior, capturing their stronghold Dirriya (near modern Riyadh) in 1818 and sending Ibn Saud in chains to the Ottoman sultan in Istanbul for execution in the public square for desecrating the holy cities of Mecca and Medina?”
It is interesting to note that the overwhelming majority of Egyptian people, who unlike their present government, intensely hate the Wahhabis and Salafis and their growing acts of terrorism against Christians and Muslims of all denominations including Sunnis, Sufis, and Shi’ites.
They recall with pride, how the Saudis used to shake in their “thobes” during the era of President Jamal Abdun-Nasser and his efforts to unite the Arabs under Egypt’s leadership.
Iran’s English language daily said: “These are historical facts, and in order to regain its past glory, Egypt and the Egyptian people have to assert their independence by refusing to kowtow to the detested Saudis, as well as to the Zionists and the Americans.”
Friday’s slaughter of Muslims in Egypt by the dastardly Takfiris was not the first instance and will not be the last, unless Cairo summons the courage to stand steadfast against the pressures of Riyadh to force it to side with its state terrorism in Syria, in Bahrain, in Yemen, in Qatar, and against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
“Then and then only”, said Kayhan “Can Egypt get rid of Takfiri terrorism and the spate of violence, hatred and bloodshed that have unfortunately become too frequent these days, and if not weeded out with firmness, might engulf the whole country, as was the fate of Syria and Iraq.”
