The Iranian nation has been one of the main victims of terrorism. But, why and how the Iranian nation has fallen victim to terrorism and who were the ones that supported terrorism against Iran?

August 30 is a reminder of one of the heinous crimes committed by MKO terrorist outfit.

Thirty-Five years ago, MKO terrorist outfit detonated a bomb at Iran’s Premier Office, martyring the then Iranian president, Mohammad Ali Rajai, and the then premier, Mohammad Javad Bahonar. This tragic incident was not the first and last terrorist operation which MKO committed in Iran. But, it marked a turning point in the Iranian nation’s campaign against terrorism and was registered as the Day of Campaign against Terrorism in Iran’s calendar; manifesting Islamic Iran’s indomitable resolve to uproot terrorism.

The MKO terrorist outfit resorted to armed acts of terror against the sacred Islamic establishment as of the initial years after the victory of Iran’s Islamic Revolution. Throughout a string of terrorist operations, this terrorist group blasted several bombs in the 1980s, martyring many Iranian nationals and officials. In fact, more than 17,000 people have fallen victim to the acts of terrorism staged by MKO terrorist outfit.

Currently, a number of regimes such as the Saudi regime are hand in gloves with terrorist outfits, openly voicing support for terrorists, as part of their foreign policy strategy.

The former Saudi intelligence chief, Turki al-Faisal, who organized the covert relations between Aale Saud and the usurper Israeli regime, recently attended an MKO gathering in Paris, praising and fully supporting the terrorist operations which are carried out by MKO.

Up to now, Riyadh has significantly financed this terrorist outfit. This financial assistance has grown by more than eight folds in the recent two years, such that in the current year, Riyadh paid the expenses of a meeting convened by MKO terrorist outfit in Paris, and Turki al-Faisal was instructed to attend this meeting, announcing the alliance of Saudi regime with this terrorist outfit.

By carrying out such a controversial and questionable measure, Riyadh has endangered the regional and global peace and security, and has followed the footsteps of former Iraqi dictator, Saddam Hussein.

The overt support of Saudi regime for MKO terrorist outfit shows Riyadh backs deviated, radical groups; including MKO and/or Daesh terrorist outfits. When Daesh terrorist outfit occupied the Iraqi city of Mosul, the website of the MKO terrorist group claimed that revolutionaries have conquered Mosul.

Although MKO terrorist outfit was included in the US blacklist, this group was excluded from the US blacklist upon serving the US goals against Iran; despite the fact that MKO continues to carry out terrorist operations.

This terrorist group also took part in the suppression of people in southern Iraq by the former Iraqi Ba’th minority regime in the year 1991. Moreover, MKO terrorists were recruited in Saddam’s private army throughout the former Iraqi regime’s military incursions against Islamic Iran; martyring their own compatriots and causing the resentment of the Iranian people toward the MKO terrorist outfit, more than ever.

On October 1994, Wall Street Journal cited the current US presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton, as saying that Saddam trusted MKO more than his own army.

Throughout the recent years, this terrorist outfit has assassinated a number of Iran’s nuclear scientists. The US-based NBC Network revealed in the year 2012 that the Israeli regime has trained MKO to assassinate Iran’s nuclear scientists.

Meanwhile, US has tried to cover up its unwavering support for terrorism. If the US had not supported MKO terrorist outfit, maybe currently terrorism would have not been unleashed to this extent.

In the initial years of the post-revolution era, a number of terrorist groups, led by MKO terrorist outfit, staged provocative acts across the eastern and southern borders and even in Tehran. Countless evidences have proved that the US has taken advantage of guided terrorism as a political means and pressure leverage against Islamic Republic of Iran on several occasions. Meanwhile, currently, the supporters of terrorism make strenuous efforts to infiltrate terrorists into Iran in a bid to carry out terrorist operations.

States such as the US, France, and Britain have adopted double standards and are host to MKO terrorist outfit, while these states’ regional allies such as the  Saudi regime also back this terrorist group.

Recently, England’s House of Commons report confirmed that figures close to Persian Gulf littoral Arab states finance some terrorist outfits.

Given the recent bitter terrorist operations in France, such as the tragic incident in Nice; the international community should realize that the mounting threat posed by terrorist groups is a global phenomenon, which goes beyond the borders of a number of countries. Thus, the international community would succeed in uprooting terrorism only if it stages a full-scale and multilateral campaign against terrorism. In other words, terrorist operations in Nice, Baghdad and/or Africa which have claimed thousands of lives; and thousands of Iranians, who have fallen victim to MKO terrorist operations; should equally be taken into consideration. In fact, the perpetrators of these crimes and their supporters should be dealt with.

The recent incidents have shown that terrorism, violence, and radicalism maintain no boundaries. Hence, uprooting terrorism in the global scene should be coupled with an unflinching determination and good will.

One of the effective approaches in the campaign against terrorism is to identify the roots of terrorism. Thus, establishment of fake coalitions and adoption of shallow measures are tantamount to negligence of the realities. Therefore, the West is getting further away from gaining an understanding of the actual roots of violence and terrorism, with every step that it takes in deceiving itself and others. This is in fact the West’s main mistake in the campaign against terrorism.
