The first sunrays shine on the ground. The violet blossoms open and flourish, making it possible for us to view gems, hidden at their heart.
Red stigmas highly contribute to food’s taste. For more than 3,000 years, South Khorasan Province has been one of the largest producers of Saffron, across the world. In a completely manual process, the red stigmas should be accurately picked from each blossom. Out of nearly 200 flowers, one gram of dry saffron is produced.
This has in turn made saffron the most expensive spice, worldwide, and has led many to term saffron “red gold”.
