Envoy: Iran to withdraw from nuclear deal if interests not met

Iranian Ambassador to Moscow Mehdi Sanaei
Iranian Ambassador to Moscow Mehdi Sanaei reiterated Tehran's position that it will stay in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) with other signatories if only other parties to the deal ensure all its interests and economic merits.
"If the conditions prior to the pre-nuclear deal era prevail again after the US withdrawal and Iran is deprived of the nuclear deal advantages, then Iran will have no reason to remain committed to it," Sanaei said in an interview with Russian Mezhdunarodnaya Zhizn magazine on Tuesday.
He blasted the US for its repeated violations and final withdrawal from the nuclear deal, but meantime, said that discarding the agreement by Washington will not leave an eye-catching impact on the economic situation in Iran.
US President Donald Trump announced on May 8 that the US would no longer remain part of the JCPOA and promised to re-impose the highest level of economic sanctions against Iran in response to Tehran's development of its nuclear program.
