Pars Today – U.S. President Donald Trump has signed an executive order to increase tariffs on Canadian imports from 25% to 35%.
In a statement, the White House announced that Trump signed the order on Thursday, and the higher tariff rate is set to take effect starting August 1. The White House explained that the decision was made in response to Ottawa’s “continued inaction and retaliation,” with Trump deeming the increase necessary to effectively address the current emergency situation.
Trump also announced that the “reciprocal tariff rate” for many other countries could go as high as 41%.
