Fatemeh Farjadian, a successful Iranian chemist, 43 is from Shiraz city and among the 2% top scientists in the world. Farjadian, who has gained all her academic degrees in Iran, says, "I had the study opportunity in the University of Duisburg-Essen in Germany and I paid a scientific visit to the research center of Nanosciences in the British University of Cambridge and presently I am the associate professor of the pharmaceutical center of Shiraz University in Iran."

Presenting a new approach in poisoning treatment

Farjadian spoke of her scientific research activities and said, "I got familiar with the synthesis of Nano compounds and started producing them. My job was mainly focused on Nanostructures as these compounds can have different applications including for catalysts as medical carriers and antibodies."

She added, "Since 2013 when I entered Shiraz University of Medical Sciences, I based my job on Nanostructures which have applications in medicine."

This Iranian woman scientist went on to say, "In 2016, I managed to collaborate in a chapter titled 'Nano-Size Smart Surrogates Responding to Stimulants in Conveying Medicine' in the book 'Industrial Application of Polymers and Smart Coatings' published by Springer publications. This was a prelude for starting my research works to produce smart compounds."

Compounds with innovative structure and novel application

This scientist, pointing that the new compounds have been able to make new pharmaceutical products, stated, "The compounds which are produced and by me have either an innovative structure or a novel application." She continued, "Smart hydrogels which were introduced in our research are bio-friendly structures that are used in a targeted way to convey medicine to cancerous tissues. These compounds, without hurting healthy tissues, set free the hazardous medicine in the relevant tissue based on the existing stimulant in the cancerous cells such as change of temperature or acidity."

Rice pill antidote at clinical work stage

She added, "There has been an innovation in the field of rice pill antidote and a result has been presented on this basis which is at the stage of clinical experimenting."

Ms. Farjadian, who is one of the highly cited researchers, said on the cause of this success, "Due to the researches that I had done on Nano compounds structure and many references had been made to these researches globally, my name was put among the 2% highly cited researchers in the world. The relevant list has been announced by the scientists of Stanford University through reviewing of Scopus scientific index according to the compound index."

Poisoning with aluminum phosphate is a major and neglected problem worldwide, especially in the Indian subcontinent

The debt to my motherland prevented me from migration

Ms. Farjadian speaking of her opportunities to migrate and her love towards her birthplace, said, "Certainly, there is a possibility of migration for scientists. This was provided for me several times, but, due to the sense of responsibility in the assigned job and the debt that I owed to the motherland, I relinquished it."

Family, the main incentive

The professor of Shiraz University of Medical Sciences considered family as her main incentive and explained, "My main incentives are my father, my mother, my brothers and my husband."
