Iran complying with all international obligations under JCPOA: VP

An Iranian official says the Islamic Republic has been and will be complying with all its obligations under the landmark nuclear agreement it signed with the P5+1 group of countries in 2015.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran is committed to all its international obligations and we hope that other countries will remain committed to their obligations as well,” Iranian Vice President for parliamentary affairs Hossein Ali Amiri said in a meeting with Hungarian Deputy Prime Minister Zsolt Semjén in Tehran on Monday, Press TV reported.

He added that some countries are still stonewalling the implementation of the nuclear deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), and warned that such measures “would undoubtedly not be in the interests of the international community.”

Amiri also pointed to a visit by Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orbán to Tehran in December 2015 and said there are good prospects for bilateral relations in the future.

He added that Iran and Hungary enjoy “deep-rooted and good” diplomatic relations and the Iranian people have a positive view of Budapest’s policies.

“We expect that the Hungarian government would use its position both at the national and European Union levels as well as international level to [help] the full implementation of all international obligations, including [those] within the framework of the JCPOA,” the Iranian official said.

The Hungarian official, for his part, voiced his opposition to some Western countries’ policy of imposing sanctions against other states, such as Iran and Russia.

Semjén expressed hope that Tehran and Budapest would bolster their relations following the implementation of the JCPOA in various economic, trade and banking sectors.

Heading a senior politico-economic delegation, the Hungarian deputy prime minister arrived in Tehran on Saturday to hold talks with high-ranking Iranian officials.
