Protesters took to the streets of Amman on Friday to protest the pumping of gas supplies from Israel's offshore Leviathan field to Jordan.

Demonstrators were chanting slogans and holding up signs, as they were marching through the Jordanian capital.

Murad al-Adayleh, the secretary general of the Islamic Action Front Party, accused the government of "betraying Jordanian people."

A member of the House of Representatives, Abdullah al-Akyleha, condemned "the execution of this agreement of shame, of stealing Palestinian gas and selling it to Jordan and incurring its economy 11 billion dollars in these hard economic conditions." He also called on protesters to "overthrow" Jordanian Prime Minister Omar Razzaz.

The first gas supplies were pumped to Jordan's National Electricity Company (NEPCO) from the Israeli regime's largest offshore natural gas field this week.

In a statement, NEPCO reportedly stated that the "experimental pumping" will go on for two or three more months.
