Israeli soldier killed, two others injured in al-Quds shooting attack

An Israeli soldier has been killed while two others have been injured in a shooting attack in the occupied East al-Quds.

The Israeli army said early Sunday that the casualties came Saturday evening in the shooting attack in Shuafat Refugee Camp checkpoint, Palestine’s Shehab news agency reported.

It quoted Israeli media as saying that the shooting involved an armed assailant who approached the checkpoint on foot and opened fire on Israeli soldiers. The checkpoint was targeted by gunfire from a passing vehicle as well.

The report added that the shooting operation killed a female Israeli soldier and injured two others, one of whom in serious condition while the other suffering minor wounds.

The Israeli army confirmed that the gunman involved in the shooting operation managed to flee the scene.

Following the operation, Israeli forces were deployed to the area, closed the checkpoint and began searching the perimeter.

Israeli military helicopters also flew over Shuafat Camp as the regime’s forces stormed the camp and fired tear gas canisters, resulting in suffocation injuries among Palestinians.

This came after earlier on Saturday, Israeli forces martyred two Palestinian teenagers and injured nearly a dozen others during a raid on the northern occupied West Bank, bringing to four the number of people shot dead during the past 24 hours.
