The Lebanese Army targeted several hideouts belonging to the Daesh terrorists inside Jaroud ‘Arsal in the past 72 hours, killing several terrorists during the operation.
"The Lebanese Army targeted the western slopes of Jaroud ‘Arsal near the Jaroud Jarajeer border-crossing into Syria, killing or wounding dozens of terrorists in the course of the operation," a security source in Beirut said.
The Lebanese Army has begun the operation to purge eastern and northeastern Lebanon near the Syrian border of terrorists, which have been used by Daesh and Al-Qaeda affiliated group of Al-Nusra Front to cross back and forth into Lebanon.
The Daesh terrorists have been present along the Syria-Lebanon border, especially in Jaroud region, since a few months ago.
Elsewhere, the Lebanese Army's combat choppers and artillery units opened fire at strongholds of al-Nusra Front in northeastern Lebanon.
Al-Nusra's depot of arms and ammunition was also targeted and destroyed in the attacks.
Since last week, the Lebanese armed forces have stepped up their military operations in eastern Lebanon, including Jaroud Arsal, the Baalbek Heights, and Jaroud Qa’a regions.
