Lebanese army foils attack on eastern Beirut suburb

The Lebanese Amy’s intelligence branch announced on Wednesday the Lebanese forces foiled a potentially major attack aimed at one of Beirut’s eastern suburbs last week.

“The Lebanese Army, briefed by intelligence provided by reliable sources, managed to prevent a major terrorist attack from taking place in eastern Beirut,” a military source said, the Daily Star reported.

The report came as fresh information surfaced on intelligence operations to prevent terrorist attacks in Lebanon after the multiple bombings struck a northeastern village two days ago.
